The three of us went over to Mt. Arthur Hut for a nice overnight.
The hike up is quite nice and easy, probably one of the best groomed trails I’ve done here. When we got to the hut we had it to ourselves until nightfall. We had dinner and a fire in the hut, there was plenty of wood.
At night another family showed up with a 7 year old, and we just chatted and ate until bed time.
In the morning a helicopter showed up and dropped two loads of firewood for the hut. We helped throw the wood into the storage area and then the DOC people left.
After the wood drop the kids played outside while we got ready to go look at Mt. Arthur itself (mainly a high ridge). We went up for about 15 min and Oscar wanted to go back to the hut and play.
We went down with the other family where they played a game of finding different color mushrooms. Kids: 14, adults: 2.
We joined the other folks at their house for a bit to see their section and plans for their farm. Oscar and the kid played in the grass and trees.
After that we went to our b&b and got some dinner in Mapua and a play on the playground.
